All Domesticated and S**t
Nothing like a long weekend to get you that way. I had 14 people over (including self and husband) for Thanksgiving. Everyone brought stuff but we made the turkey, stuffing (aka dressing for you Texas folk,) my grandmother’s broccoli and rice casserole, sweet potato souffle, homemade cranberry stuff, twice baked mashed potatoes and a bourbon-chocolate pecan pie.
The festivities were quite fun but man was I beat after all that. So I conquered the sleepies by not waking up until 12:20 the next day. Then went to Home Depot and got my Christmas on. By that I mean I bought Christmas things for the house.
Today we got Jon a new winter coat and some holiday cheer for our noses, in the form of candles. Then I came back and reworked the leftovers for what I’m pretty sure was the last possible time we can palate it.
I finished the night with a Turkey Noodle soup by doing what my grandma told me to do. It’s kind of an icky experience that I won’t go into but it made me feel less wasteful about things and it tastes pretty good.
The photo above is the only picture I have of the weekend…the Turkey Day centerpiece. Please note Jon’s contributions to it…a toy Longhorn, a commemorative Rosebowl Championship beer glass, and a Vince Young rookie card.
